The Stockholm, Sweden-based creative's oil paintings depict intriguing portraits of people drenched in water. Strid is able to depict the translucent liquid so effectively that it allows viewers to truly believe that they are looking at a photograph rather than a painting.

Extensive Pile of Noodles Produces an Emotional Reaction

In 2010, French sculptor, painter, and photographer Theo Mercier created this very emotional piece, entitled Le Solitaire. Seated on a chair, the sculpture is basically a big pile of noodles slumped over in the shape of a person. The large eyes staring out at nothing create a sense of terrible sadness. With very little detail, Mercier evokes in his viewers a sense of empathy and a desire to reach out and help this lonely being.

Italian artist Bruno Walpoth creates unbelievably lifelike sculptures of people with wood. The rings and knots in each piece of wood that the sculptor works with adds an artistic element to the completed figure.
