Photographer Uses Ordinary Tea Kettle to Capture Reflected Self-Portraits Around the World

Instead of constantly reaching for her phone and snapping her reflection in selfie mode, Michigan-based photographer Esha Biswas prefers to capture herself and the world around her in a more unconventional kind of mirror. For over four years, Biswas has taken over 30 self-portraits through the shiny surface of a tea kettle. For her, it is this unlikely prop that instills the mission of her projectโ€”to find the extraordinary in the most ordinary places.

Winner of the โ€˜Itโ€™s Amazing Out Thereโ€™ Photo Contest Reveal the Beauty of Weather

There were more than 60,000 submissions from photographers around the world that show the beauty of weather and nature for The Weather Channelโ€˜s third annual It's Amazing Out There photography contest. Crushing storms, birds in flight, and spectacular sunrises highlight the great environment we live in.  But it was Long Island photographer Greg Gulbransen who captured the grand prize of $15,000 for his eerily powerful image, Fire on Ice.

Dreamy Photos of New York Architecture Capture the โ€œSecret Lives of Buildingsโ€

Rising up as spectral monsters, the New York City buildings captured by photographer Marc Yankus loom as giants in the urban landscape. The series of dreamlike images give new perspective to the architecture, and by pulling back to show his subjects in their naked context Yankus forces the viewer to observe their raw impact. The solitude that inhabits the photographs are in stark contrast to the normally buzzing city streets.
