Tightrope Walking Sculptures by Jerzy Kediora

Highly trained acrobats precariously hang in mid-air. While this may sounds like a description for a circus act, it's actually far from it. Poland-born artist Jerzy Kediora (JOTKA) recently showed some of his magnificent sculptors at this year's Kinetica Art Fair in the UK. On a simple strip of wire, his sculptures seem to magically balance themselves, challenging the rules of physics, and surely making those who walk under them slightly unnerved by the experience.

Bronze Sculptures With Enormous Heads Inflated by the “Weight of Thought”

Belgian artist Thomas Lerooy is known for his ability to draw on classical motifs to play with modern concepts. His 2009 series of four bronze sculptures, created for his Braindance exhibition, are a prime example of how his work touches on universal themes. The sculptures, with their oversized heads and small torsos, draw out an immediate reaction. One sculpture, in particular, Not Enough Brains to Survive, continues to be one of his most recognizable works.

Magnificent Paper Sculptures (5 pics)

Dutch artist Paula Arntzen is an incredibly skilled paper artist. Only after countless hours of studying and observing the special characteristics of paper was she able to create these contemporary light sculptures. All of these were entirely handcrafted before being screen-printed with fluorescent ink. The results are stunning!
