Giant Crouching Man Patiently Awaits Global Warming

Crouching at 85 feet tall and weighing about 60 tons, Antony Gormley's Exposure sculpture is rooted to ground in central Netherlands, reacting over time to the changing environment. Riddled with funding problems, It took nearly six years to complete. “One of the known environmental changes that is happening is the rising of the sea level through global warming,” explains Gormley.

Photorealistic Charcoal Drawings of Epic Waves

Though artwork created in Photoshop or Illustrator can be nothing short of extraordinary, sometimes it's more impressive to see pieces created by more traditional means. Brooklyn-based artist Robert Longo made these incredible drawings of massive, thundering waves using just charcoal (on mounted paper). Called Monsters, the drawings almost look like black and white photos of that crescendo moment before an epic wave breaks.

Created from discarded plastic bottles, these giant fish make a powerful environmental statement as they emerge from the sands of Botafogo beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year, the city of Rio is hosting the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, also called Rio+20, and these giant fish were created to mark the occasion.
