Emotionally Charged Reflective Photography

The visual power of transparent materials, like water and glass, often go unnoticed. Sometimes, it takes a photographer like Hlne Desplechin to show us the visible influence of these elements. Desplechin, who is based in Spain, has a wide portfolio of work that utilizes water's reflective and rippling nature. The illusionary quality of the translucent material distorts and reshapes the subjects, offering a new, emotion-filled perspective.

Hanksy’s Apollo 13 Space Shuttle Spoof

Spoofing one of Banksy's most recent pieces, Hanksy hilariously transforms Banky's Biplane (below) into the legendary Apollo 13 Space Shuttle. Spotted on the streets of Chicago, Tom Hanks looks like he's having the time of his life. Just take one look at his hilarious facial expression! As far as street art spoofing goes, Hanksy is definitely making quite a reputation for himself with a string of brilliant pieces.

Strikingly Colorful Reflective Rocks

Sculptor Jim Hodges recently debuted his exhibit We are Poems at the Gladstone Gallery in New York City. In this installation, he gathered four large boulders and then removed some of the rocks' original surfaces, replacing the areas with polished, vibrantly colored stainless steel. The four sculptures are then arranged in a rough circular pattern to allow visitors to stand in the center and look at their own reflections.
