Photographer Invites 16 Artists to Reimagine His Portraits in Their Own Style

Photographer Mathieu Stern creates striking, often surreal portraits using a variety of vintage lenses and digital techniques. With the spirit of experimentation in mind, he was inspired to collaborate with artists after browsing through images on Instagram posted under the hashtag #DrawThisInYourStyle. The popular art challenge encourages illustrators to recreate art in their own way, and Stern thought it would be interesting to see how artists would translate his photography into digital art.

Illustrator Reimagines His Favorite Movies as Classic Paperback Books

Designer and illustrator Matt Stevens has designed for magazines and media companies, but his recent project titled Good Movies as Old Books is more personal. Stevens transformed one hundred of his favorite films into colorful and worn book covers—some complete with price tags, as if you could pick them up off the shelves of a used bookstore. Each reimagined paperback's title and author is represented by the movie's respective title and director.

Artist Reimagines Iconic Disney Princesses With Realistic Facial Proportions

Everyone is familiar with Disney's trademark art style. Their beloved animated characters often have cute, diminutive features with large, expressive eyes. These proportions make them appear more cartoon-like than realistic, which gave one artist an idea for a twist on Disney convention. In her ongoing project, California-based illustrator Holly Fae reimagines famous Disney princesses and other characters with more lifelike proportions. Fae started the series by transforming the starlet sisters of Frozen, Elsa and Anna.
