Ceramicist Uses Science to Craft Clay Bowls Covered in Electroformed Crystals

Ceramicist Sabri Ben-Achour believes that “humans are primed to find beauty in the orderly disorder of nature.” This primal understanding has informed his entire practice, culminating in a growing collection of striking organic bowls. Crafted using controlled processes and intended to resemble natural formations, these vessels speak to Ben-Achour's interest in blurring the line between art and science. Ben-Achour's preference for clay is no coincidence.

Artist Crochets Life-Size Anatomically Correct Skeleton with Removable Organs

Canadian artist Shanell Papp works in many mediums, but it's her eye-catching crochet art and fascination with anatomy that led her to create Bawdy, a life-size model of the human body's inner workings. This research project was started in 2005, when she crocheted the anatomically correct figure with removable organs during her time as an art student at the University of Lethbridge.

Sunlight on This Street Installation Casts Shadow Messages About Passage of Time

Indian street artist DAKU recently unveiled an immersive shadow art installation in Panjim, Goa. Titled Theory of Time, the incredible street-long piece features a net of suspended letters that create typographic shadows on the concrete floor, when sunlight shines down on it during the day. The letters spell out phrases related to the passage of time, such as “Time works wonders” and “Time is an illusion.
