Artist Transforms Discarded Aluminum Cans Into Incredible Hand-Sculpted Art

Detroit-born artist Noah Deledda turns trash into treasure by transforming old aluminum cans into sculptures. Made entirely by hand, the artist uses his thumb to create dents and creases in the disposable object’s surface, resulting in incredible three-dimensional sculptures adorned in flawless, geometric patterns. Deledda reveals, “Through sculpture I try to create something unique out of an ordinary object.” His process begins by scratching away the can’s commercial design.

New to Drawing? Make Sure You Know These Basic Techniques Before You Start

Things to Remember as You Draw Once you’ve got the essentials down, there are a couple of things to keep in mind as you practice these basic drawing techniques. Start light. When you're beginning to sketch, make light marks on your paper. That way, if you make a mistake, they are easier to erase (if you're using pencil). It also allows you to gradually build your tone and shadows. Line weight is important.

Artist Uses Hundreds of Shards of Chinese Porcelain to Create “Wearable” Art

Chinese contemporary artist Li Xiaofang uses porcelain to make wearable art that pays homage to China's past while looking toward the future. Xiaofang takes hundreds of shards of porcelain, some dating back to the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, and puzzles them together into magnificent porcelain dresses. His wearable art acts as both a coat of armor and a sculptural masterpiece.
