Comic Artist Maps the History of Languages with an Illustrated Linguistic Tree

Using research from Ethnologue, Minna Sundberg created this amazing infographic in the form of a magnificent tree, which illustrates the ancient linguistic links between the world’s languages. Trees and branches are often used by linguists as a visual metaphor to explain language origination. This tree model explains the connections between groups of languages, which all descend from a common ancestral proto-language.

Ethereal Beauty of Flowers Floating Like Ballerinas Under Water

Dutch artist and product designer Anne ten Donkelaar arranges and photographs flowers underwater, thus capturing a “silent image of a spirited dance.” In this series, titled Underwater Ballet, the artist’s floral “ballerinas” dance and seemingly float around in still waters. They dreamily pose and sway, thoroughly hypnotizing us all. This stunning picture is just a glimpse of ten Donkelaar’s magical reality.

Tyrus Wong, the Chinese-American Artist of Disney’s “Bambi” Finally Gets Recognition He Deserves

Nearly one year after he died at the age of 106, Chinese-American artist Tyrus Wong is finally gaining wide recognition for his work at Disney and Warner Brothers. Wong was responsible for much of the imagery we associate with iconic films like Bambi, though due to prejudices against Chinese immigrants, his contributions were diminished for many years. Pamela Tom's documentary Tyrus explores Wong's life and career in the context of his times.
