Small Mirrored House Reflects the Surrounding Landscape

German sculptor Ekkehard Altenburger finds great inspiration in architecture and the environment. He uses heavy materials like steel and stone in his pieces and says he “seeks to explore and encapsulate the physical balance of the built environment as well as the sculptural volumes of these physical materials.” This piece, Mirror House, was a temporary installation on the Isle of Tyree in Scotland. The mirror and steel structure stood 5 x 5 x 6.

Beautiful and Otherworldly Light Installations on Land

Perth, Australia-born artist James Tapscott creates beautiful and otherworldly outdoor installations using various types of light. For the image immediately above and below, he used fiber optic cable to shine lights on various fields, filling a large space of approximately 70ft x 70xft. Called Transference, it leaves the viewer with that strange and uneasy feeling that we aren't alone in this world.

Incredible Sculptures Made of Bicycle Parts

Chicago-based bicycle parts company SRAM gives artists the opportunity to show how creative they can be by equipping them with a box of 100 bike components and challenging them to make something for their pART PROJECT competition. This year, over 80 artists have participated, contributing their inventive creations that range from figurative sculptures to abstract collages.
