Gorgeous New Mural in Ibiza, Spain

Irish urban artist Fin DAC has just completed this beautiful stencil work in Ibiza, Spain for the Urban In Ibiza festival. Called Alabaster at Nagai, it shows a gorgeous woman with a colorful parrot on her shoulder. (Also, notice the tiny green leaves or feathers surrounding them.) The artist, whose work we've featured a number of times on My Modern Met (see here and here) is known for creating these types of stunning murals.

Intricately Cut Flowers Sprout Out of Paper Money

New York-based artist Yuken Teruya was commissioned by the New York Times to create this piece entitled Green Economy. The article, written by Paul Krugman, asks the main question, “Is it possible to make drastic cuts in greenhouse-gas emissions without destroying our economy?” To complement the New York Times informative article, Teruya cut these very precise nature designs that appear to be rising up out of variations of these thin, paper, international monetary notes.

Colorful Umbrellas Magically Float in Mid-Air

Flickr photographer Patrcia Almeida recently shot these great photos of a wonderfully whimsical umbrella art installation in Portugal. Like something out of a fairy tale, the umbrellas look almost like they're magically floating in mid-air. As she writes, “In July, in gueda (a Portuguese town), some streets are decorated with colorful umbrellas. I felt like a kid, amazed by all that color!” She calls it Umbrella Sky. Love this kind of outdoor art.
