Three-Dimensional Magazine Sculptures Defy All Boundaries

Korean Yun-Woo Choi is an emerging artist who creates incredibly impressive sculptures using rolled up pages of magazines. Though not much information can be found on the artist, he did say in a fairly recent interview that he was inspired by three artists you may already be familiar with: Anish Kapoor, Tara Donovan, and Tom Friedman. Animal Sculptures Covered with Complex Crochet Patterns

Lisbon-based artist Joana Vasconcelos creates amazing sculptural work and site-specific installations of all kinds. From life-sized high heels in the palace of Versailles to nautical buoys covering the surface of a building, there is nothing Vasconcelos won't do! The artist's bio says, “The nature of Joana Vasconcelos' creative process is based on the appropriation, decontextualization, and subversion of pre-existent objects and everyday realities.

Hundreds of Wind Chimes Hang From a Rainbow of Ribbons

Currently showing at the 18th Biennale of Sydney is a gorgeous installation consisting of hundreds of bamboo wind chimes hanging from rows of colored ribbons. Called Knock On The Sky Listen To The Sound, it's by artist Tiffany Singh and it's on view in a cavernous hall of Pier 2/3 at nearby Walsh Bay. Singh invites visitors to be a part of her artwork.

Juxtaposing Animals in Surreal Scenarios

Through his highly creative artwork, Jacub Gagnon tells us a story that can be seen as both sweet or disturbing – a showcase of how humans manipulate and borrow from nature. A recent graduate from Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), Gagnon is regarded as one of Toronto's great emerging contemporary artists. “The only way a kid can survive life in a small rural town is through imagination,” says Gagnon.
