The wood sculptures of Hsu Tung Han are dynamically fashioned pieces of fine art. The Taiwanese artist is a master of puzzling together pieces of wood into unbelievable figurative sculptures. This contemporary sculptor thinks of his work as a puzzle, carefully laying out each piece in preparatory drawings and clay models. Then, strips of walnut, teak, or African wax wood are joined together and worked over meticulously.

Korean Artist Sews Together Broken Ceramic Shards With 24K Gold

The fragile nature of ceramics makes them objects of beauty that can easily show the wear of time. Korean artist Yee Sookyung has pushed this concept beyond its limits with her ongoing Translated Vase series. Since 2002 the well regarded artist, whose work is in the collections of The British Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Fine Arts, and the Seoul Museum of Art, has used discarded ceramics like a jigsaw puzzle, piecing them together one by one.

Delicate Floral Arrangements Are Actually Realistic Porcelain Sculptures

Artist Vladimir Kanevsky crafts beautiful illusions with intricate flower sculptures. His colorful bouquets feature roses, hyacinths, and peonies that look incredibly realistic but are actually made from porcelain clay. To produce these pieces, Kanevsky first builds them out of copper and then uses casting techniques to form petals and greenery that mimic natural textures and folds. Afterwards, the porcelain is painted by hand and later arranged into vases where it'll forever brighten up a room.
