What if the world's population only had 100 people? That small of a number definitely makes it easier to put things into perspective. Out of 100, 60 of them would live in Asia; 70 would not have access to the internet; and the gender divide would be split at 50/50. Jack Hagley designed this fascinating infographic that uses data from the recently-updated 100 People statistical chart.

Vintage Fabric Bird Models Take Flight in Mirror Dioramas

Josephine Hague's colorful cloth-covered bird models roost on mirrors and lend a whimsical air to their surroundings. The Somerset-based artist comprises her birds of Japanese and vintage floral fabric strips, resulting in a cheerful patchwork of vibrant textures and hues. In most pieces, a mirror forms the backdrop for the birds' habitat of paper flowers and delicate wooden branches.

Most reprints of classic books are dominated by large companies that produce low-quality paperbacks with bland covers, as David Mautz discovered when he was looking for a nice set of classic paperbacks. Frustrated by the limited options available, he founded Rock Paper Books, a startup publishing company dedicated to working with independent artists to create clean, minimalist book cover designs.

Custom-Built BBQ Smoker Looks and Sounds like a Real Train

Steve, a retired iron worker from northern Illinois, is taking backyard barbecuing to the next level, and custom built himself a large smoker over the course of three years. But, this isn't just your average piece of equipment – it's one that looks like an old-fashioned steam engine! Reddit user DrewCIL, Steve's son, originally posted about the video on the site, and people have understandably been very impressed with his dad's handiwork.
