Star Trek Superfan Transforms Basement into Starship Enterprise

Here's what the original looked like: Social worker and Star Trek superfan Line Rainville has taken her love for the original, 1960s science fiction series to a whole other level. The 51-year-old Canadian spent $30,000 to transform multiple rooms in her house to replicate the Starship Enterprise as a tribute to her favorite TV show from her childhood.

Joshua Tree’s Hypnotically Reflective Desert Shack

Lucid Stead is an architectural installation by artist Phillip K. Smith III that takes an existing structure in the deserts of Joshua Tree, California and revitalizes it with mirrors, LED lights, and custom built technology to accentuate the beauty of the bare landscape. Aptly referred to as an “architectural intervention,” the 70-year-old homesteader shack's weathered and worn stature is transformed into a remarkable vision that makes viewers question whether they are hallucinating.

Singapore’s Communal Learning Towers Inspired by Beehives

While technology within education has delivered many benefits, some feel it has led to a decrease in socialization among both students and faculty members. With this in mind, architect Thomas Heatherwick has designed the new Learning Hub for Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTUC). The building will be the first of fourteen new updates to the campus as part of a twenty year project.
