Mixed-Reality VR Installation Invites Viewers Into an Intriguing Shape-Shifting World

One of the unique experiences revealed at the London Design Festival 2021 was an immersive virtual reality installation by Sou Fujimoto and Tin Drum. Named after the famous figure in Greek mythology, Medusa allowed visitors at the festival to experience a fluid relationship between virtual and physical worlds. As guests walked through the space with VR headsets, the structures around them changed in real-time.

Refik Anadol and BVLGARI Reveal Immersive Installation Created With AI

Digital artist Refik Anadol never ceases to titillate the senses with his alluring installations. He has most recently collaborated with the luxury brand BVLGARI to create an immersive experience titled Serpenti Metamorphosis. The multi-sensory installation is inspired by BVLGARI’s iconic Serpenti collection and the process of metamorphosis. Ultimately, it is a celebration of nature’s beauty. For this dynamic piece, Anadol used artificial intelligence to compile millions of images of nature.

Public Art Installation Honors George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and John Lewis in NYC’s Union Square

On October 1, three new statues went up in New York City’s Union Square. The three busts, each crafted from 200 layers of thinly-sliced African Mahogany wood and coated in shimmering bronze, bear the likenesses of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and John Lewis. Part of a public art installation called SEEINJUSTICE, the 10-foot-tall statues were crafted by artist Chris Carnabuci in collaboration with Confront Art and its charity partner We Are Floyd Inc.

670,000+ Flags Are Planted on the National Mall To Commemorate American Lives Lost to COVID-19

As the world continues to grapple with COVID-19, one artist is using her creativity to express her sadness for all the lives that have been lost. Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg is a Washington, D.C.-based artist who actively creates work that touches on social issues. Her latest installation is one of her largest to date—over 670,000 white flags planted on the National Mall to symbolize the American lives lost to the coronavirus.
