Cats Are Tattooing Other Cats in Surreal Japanese Ink Wash Paintings

On their own, tattoos and cats are great. But together—they’re a force to be reckoned with. California-based Japanese artist and tattooist Kazuaki Horitomo combines these two passions into his amusing and surreal illustrations. Working under the name Monmon Cats, the paintings feature felines who wear elaborate body art. Often, the tattoos cover most of their back and torso and leave just their heads free of the imagined ink.

Alluring Illusions of Technicolor Portals Are Actually 2D Wall Paintings

We already know German artist 1010 for his vivid murals, which appear like multilayered, technicolor portals into parallel dimensions. Now, he has opened a new show at Milan's 10 A.M. ART gallery, with an exhibition that includes not only a mural across the building's entire exterior in his hallmark style, but also a collection of paintings displayed inside. Though smaller in scale than his street art, these new works might be even more remarkable.
