Shockingly Surreal Self-Portraits (10 photos)

Born in Madrid, Spain, Manu Pombrol is a 35-year-old artist and photographer whose self-portraits are nothing short of extraordinary. Pombrol first started down a creative path when, at a very young age, he painted pictures or portraits in pastels. Then, as computers started making their way into the mainstream, he worked in graphic design. He bought his first camera only about three years ago and that's when everything changed.

A Wonderfully Odd World by Geof Kern

Award winning American photographer Geof Kern takes our world and turns it upside down. Inspired by post-modernist painters and cinematic actors/directors such as Buster Keaton and Jean-Luc Godard, Kern's storytelling style has an artistic as well as a deadpan nature to it. His black-and-white photos may remind you of another Met favorite, Rodney Smith, in that both have the ability to create timeless photos that, on closer inspection, seem slightly surreal.

Tim Walker’s Street Sign Illusions (12 pics)

British fashion photographer Tim Walker recently showed off an interesting and eye-catching editorial titled High-Style. This time it was for Vogue Italy's September issue and it featured 33-year-old Polish fashion model and actress Malgosia Bela. With the help of some creepy characters, the model reenacted some of our most familiar street signs, making us remember why we love Walker's whimsical take on the world. New York-based photographer Mike Schreiber will soon be releasing a new book called True Hip Hop. It's a collection of photos that he's taken over an 11 year period that includes some of the biggest names in the hip hop scene. He shoots mostly in black and white, capturing a raw and real side to them that we don't often get to see.
