Storytelling Self-Portraits by Cig Harvey (15 photos)

As beautiful as they are intriguing, Cig Harvey's self-portraits are truly one-of-a-kind. Named PDN's “Emerging 30” Photographers in 2005 and a “Rising Star” in 2004, Harvey creates conceptual images of herself that might inspire you to turn the camera on yourself. She started shooting self-portraits because she had no money for models. Now, when she shoots personal shots, she still works alone. As she says, “I love being able to come up with a concept, set my camera up and run into the picture.”

Harvey lives in Maine with her filmmaker husband. Her commercial clients include Harper's Bizarre, Kate Spade, Bloomingdales, Ralph Lauren, The New York Times and New York Magazine. In the last few years Harvey has been jurying international photography shows and speaking on contemporary photography on panels and at symposiums around the country. Cig Harvey
