Sculptor Carves Life-Sized Arnold Schwarzenegger Statue Out of a Tree Trunk

While Arnold Schwarzenegger has already been honored with a 600-pound bronze statue in Ohio, the world champion bodybuilder, Hollywood star, and ex-Governor of California has recently inspired the work of another sculptor. Wood carving artist James O’Neal created an incredible life-sized Arnie out of an old tree trunk and documented the entire process on Instagram. Carved from black oak, the impressive piece measures 1.88 meters in height (approximately 6′ 2″ tall)

Artist Uses Resin to Create Miniature Koi Ponds That Look Just Like the Real Thing

At first glance, each piece looks like it contains real, miniature koi carp, swimming around their little lagoons. Characters Step Out of Their Canvas Into the Real World

At first glance, the work of Japanese artist Shintaro Ohata might look like textural oil paintings, but a closer look reveals that his subjects are not confined to the flat surface of his canvases. Depending on the viewer's perspective, his colorful, childlike sculptural characters seem to live halfway between their painterly worlds and the gallery showroom. To create his mixed media work, Ohata places three-dimensional, figurative sculptures made from polystyrene in front of his canvases.
