Suspended Red Thread Coils Reflect the Idea of Soulmates

What appears to be a beautiful wafting sea of red discs is artist Beili Liu's visual interpretation of an ancient Chinese legend involving red thread. The belief behind the mythical tale of the “red string of fate” is similar to the western idea of soulmates. It suggests that, upon birth, every person is tied to another with an invisible red thread, signifying the individual they are destined to be with.

Colorful Paint Explosions Frozen in Time

Eruptions of color burst towards the viewer in these vibrant photographs, entitled Explosions, by Nick Knight. Based in London, the fashion photographer says he “consistently challenge[s] conventional notions of beauty.” Using an accessible medium that is typically associated with fine art, Knight found a way to stop time as lively paints scattered into splatters of color. As the liquids quickly dispersed throughout the air, Knight documented these stunning palettes of complementary tones and hues.
