150-Foot-Long Serpentine Sculpture Celebrates the Year of the Snake at World Trade Center Oculus

It's officially the Year of the Snake, and to celebrate, the World Trade Center Oculus has installed a large sculptural serpent. INFINITE HARMONY is a monumental serpentine structure created by Danielle Chang, founder of LUCKYRICE, internationally renowned artist Warren King, and architects Richard Gluckman and Andrew Weigand. The installation, which spans 150 feet and features augmented reality, will be on view until February 12, 2025.

Daniel Popperโ€™s Evocative Public Sculpture Speaks to Human Relationships and Nature

South African sculptor Daniel Popper has been busy. Over the past 12 months, the artist, known for his monumental public sculptures, has created multiple temporary and permanent installations that play on common themes of nature and human relationships. Popper finished out 2024 with Aeonium, a 16-foot-tall sculpture inspired by the rosette-shaped form of the Aeonium succulent. Installed at EDC Orlando, the sculpture shows a woman covered in succulents.

Sculpture Bought for $6 and Used as Doorstop Is Actually 18th-Century Marble Bust Worth $3M

In 1930, Scotlandโ€™s Highlands Council bought an 18th-century marble bust for ยฃ5 (about $6.35) at auction (approximately ยฃ408 or $517 in todayโ€™s money, adjusted for inflation), not realizing its rich history. Now, nearly 100 years later, the bust has been valued at an incredible ยฃ2.5 million (a little over $3 million). The bust depicts Sir John Gordon, a prominent landowner and presumed founder of the town of Invergordon in Scotland.

Jaume Plensaโ€™s Giant Mesh Steel Sculptures Hauntingly Request Silence in Historic Gothic Building

Spanish artist Jaume Plensa has brought his monumental sculptures inside one of Palma de Mallorca's most historic buildings. The 15th-century La Llotja is now home to Plensa's Mirall (meaning โ€œmirrorโ€ in Catalan), an exhibition that reflects on the dualities of the world. In it, two 23-foot-tall stainless steel sculptures have been erected under its vaulted ceiling, blending the contemporary with this fine example of Catalan Gothic architecture.
