Scribbled Wire Sculptures Mysteriously Appear to Float

Sculptor David Oliveira wrote to us to tell us about his very interesting wire sculptures. At first glance, it seems as though someone has just scribbled ink drawings on top of existing photos. In reality, the Lisbon-born artist who has a degree in Sculpture and a Masters in Artistic Anatomy from the Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts, twists and turns wire until he creates figures and objects. How does his background play into his work?

Surreal Watercolor Paintings of Anatomical Self-Dissections

In the photo-realistic series Anatomical Self-Dissections, artist Danny Quirk depicts several subjects performing dissections on their own bodies. The fine art illustrator takes a surreal approach to visualizing human anatomy by presenting portraitures in which the subjects tear and slice themselves open to unveil the inner workings of various sections of the human body, revealing their muscles, tissue, bones, and organs.

New Works by Miniature Mastermind Slinkachu

Andipa Gallery in London just sent word about the latest print release from our favorite “little people” artist Slinkachu. Called Damn Kids, it shows the owner of an Audi convertible looking quite distraught over a pink lollipop landing on his car. Talk about a catastrophe! This whimsical miniature installation was created in Stuggart, Germany to coincide with the artist's first museum solo exhibition. You can read more about it here.

Blurring the Lines Between Animals and Mankind

Canadian filmmaker and photographer Gregory Colbert captures the beautiful, uninhibited relationship between man and wildlife. He took a ten-year hiatus from exhibiting any work to travel the world, exploring the vast and natural landscapes of exotic lands including India, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Egypt, and Antarctica. On his journey, he discovered and documented the exquisite coexistence of humans and animals in his ongoing series titled Ashes and Snow.
