Outside Looking In

Matthew Weatherstone's oil paintings and charcoal works in his series “The Disconnect” elegantly illustrate his theme with soft color palettes and smooth images. His work “explores ideas of human disconnectedness to the natural environment, genuine human community and relationship, faith and death.” The Sydney-based artist captures these feelings well with the contrast of industrial buildings and nature. Many of his works also feature beautiful skyscapes, with lots of warm inviting colors.

Real Photos of the the Titanic 100 Years Later

Next week will mark the 100th anniversary of the sunken tragedy that is the Titanic. To coincide with the historic event, National Geographic Magazine is unveiling, in their April 2012 edition, new photographs that provide a greater understanding of what happened on that fateful day, April 15, 1912. Unlike previous blurred and dark images of sections of the ship, the latest photographs are absolutely clear and reveal the full extent of the wreckage.

Recycled Aluminum Can Mosaics

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Arizona-based artist Jeff Ivanhoe is the master of this catch phrase. He finds soda and beer cans from friends, family, recyclers, and stores and reuses them by turning them into these incredibly inspiring mosaics. His background in art, advertising, and art direction, combined with his wife's talents as a designer and art director led them to the discovery of this art form and they dubbed it AluMosaics.
