Seoul’s Wavy Skyscraper (9 pics)

Dutch firm ArchitectenConsort just completed a wavy new skyscraper that brings a fascinating change to the cityscape of Seoul, South Korea. The undulating glass facade of GT Tower East makes it look different from every angle. The 427 foot (130 meter) high-rise stands out even further because it appears to drop down below street level.

Opera House Curtain Illusion (3 pics)

Scanning images of crumpled aluminum foil, artist Pae White made this mind-bending main stage curtain for the Oslo Opera House. The digitized image was fed into a computer driven loom to weave the curtain, creating the illusion of a 3D surface. Called “Metafoil,” it's a modern take on the centuries-old tradition of weaving, but with a digital twist.

Cool Concept: CO2 to O2 Converting Trees (4 pics)

When tasked with creating a synthetic urban tree for the City of Boston (or any city) that could provide all the benefits of a real tree (de-carbonization and protection) without requiring soil and water, a team from Paris rose to the challenge. Their innovative concept is called Treepods. The systems are capable of removing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen using a carbon dioxide removal process called “humidity swing.
