From now till February 11, 2012, visit The Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles to see some beautiful blue hour photography. Kevin Cooley's new exhibition, called “Take Refuge,” shows twilight photographs taken in New York and California as well as in Spitsbergen island in the Arctic. The gorgeous, snow-covered landscapes are punctuated with bright, often times, colored lights.
The exhibition is about our complicated relationship with nature, our quest to be a part of it but to also conquer it. As he told Time, “Part of the reason I was drawn to the Arctic is because it's sort of the end of the earth–an uninhabited place. It's places like that where you're directly confronted with this epic idea of nature.”
