Intricate Detailed & Fragile Mouth of Sand Sculpture

New York-based Cuban artist Liset Castillo challenges the typical notions of beauty with very temporary sand sculptures. Mouth of Sand is just one of the many pieces from this body of work entitled Human Studies. In her labor-intensive process, Castillo creates life-size sand forms that resemble models found in high-gloss magazines.

Mind-Bending Shadow Photos by Alexey Bednij

At first glance, you might think that photographer Alexey Bednij has a ton of patience, perfect timing, and a little luck. In all of his shadow photographs, everything is perfectly placed and aligned and nothing overlaps. Beautifully Designed Solar Trees

Designed by Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove and manufactured by Artemide, Solar Tree is an urban lighting system created as a part of Clerkenwell Design Week 2012. This futuristic design uses panels and LED lighting units to provide environmentally friendly illumination powered by solar energy. Much of Lovegrove's work is inspired by nature, and he says his work possesses “a trinity between technology, materials science, and intelligent organic form.
