Stuttgartโ€™s Refreshingly New Modern Library

Have you ever seen a library as modern as this? Korean architect Eun Young Yi beat out 235 other proposals to win the honor of designing the new central library in Stuttgart, Germany. The project took three years to complete and costs roughly $108 million. The opening ceremony was held just last month. Young Yi's design is a large cube featuring nine above ground floors and two basement level floors.

Rearrangeable Pop-Up Garden Shed

The collaborative design between architect Vile Hara and designer Linda Bergroth is a stunningly simple design that offers an array of customizations. The prefabricated Garden Shed is a greenhouse and storage space that can easily be assembled with just a screwdriver. It's constructed out of Finnish pine and safety glass and also includes automatic openers to help control temperature regulation.

Beautifully Bent Cherry Tree Project

What a surreal idea! โ€œThe Patient Gardenerโ€ is the product of a weeklong workshop conducted by Visiondivision. Ten Japanese cherry trees have been planted in a 26 foot diameter ring (8 meters), and will slowly grow into their bent design. The saplings are being pulled toward a tower in the center that will be removed once the trees are strong enough and won't unbend.

Hypnotically Twisting Architecture

Photographer Nicholas Kennedy Sitton's photo manipulations of buildings are extremely interesting to view. Parts of the buildings have been rotated making the scene look like it's spiraling into itself causing an almost hypnotic feeling. Is anyone else thinking Inception?
