Landscapes Exposed Directly onto Hand-Blown Glass

Artist Emma Howell has a unique approach to landscape photography. Rather than exposing her images digitally or onto film, she works with a wet plate collodion method to transfer landscapes directly onto handblown glass forms. When the San Francisco-based artist first learned how to blow glass, she knew instantly that she wanted to combine that with her passion for photography, so she developed this unique, labor-intensive process.

Spectacular Castles Built with 20,000 Pounds of Ice

This spectacular winter wonderland is a frozen labyrinth of caverns, archways, glacial formations, and tunnels in Colorado, Utah, and New Hampshire. Creator Brent Christensen began building these insane designs when he and his family first moved to Utah. A combination of artistic endeavor and cabin fever led to his first at-home attempt which his kids dubbed the “Ice Castle.

Each one of her ghostly figures floats unnaturally through the air in a journey where darkness and isolation seem to be the dominating forces that drive each visual story. Through impressive editing techniques, the Estonia-based artist produces ghostly figures that haunt the space in what seems like a completely different universe.

Ernest Zacharevic’s Beach Mural on the Shores of Malaysia

Upon quick glance from a distance, you might think a young girl is standing dangerously close to the edge of this cliff. In reality, though, the figure is a wonderfully detailed painting created by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic in his signature style. After his solo exhibit opened in Malaysia, entitled Art Is Rubbish Is Art, Zacharevic decided to relax on the beach nearby.
