Russian Firm Plans to Build First Space Hotel

Russian firm Orbital Technologies plans to open the very first space hotel in history by 2016. The space hotel, or “Commercial Space Station,” as it's officially called, will float 250 miles above Earth. The hotel can accommodate a maximum of seven people at one time. To prepare, tourists will have to undergo special training that can take up to three months, depending on the type of spacecraft they fly to the hotel.

Cars-Inspired V8 Hotel (12 pics)

Lightning McQueen and his Radiator Springs pals would surely approve of this hotel. After all, the V8 Hotel in Stuttgart, Germany seems like it's inspired by the Disney/Pixar movie “Cars.” The four star establishment is built inside the old Boblingen Airport and features 34 rooms, 10 with their own unique interior. Depending on their mood, guests can sleep inside a 70's Cadillac drive-in cinema, a Mercedes Benz carwarsh, or a Morris Minor garage.

Modern Architecture – Ski Slope Luxury Hotel (7 pics)

Designed by Michael Jantzen, the North Slope Ski Hotel gives the term “ski resort” a whole new meaning. The main feature of this eco-friendly luxury hotel is the 400 foot built-in ski slope, which is powered by the wind and sun. Eight large wind turbines are mounted on the top of the hotel, and a large array of flexible photovoltaic solar cells cover the lower portion of the structure.
