Architects Propose 16 Cabins That Effortlessly Float Above the Norwegian Forest Floor

The 16 wooden cabins proposed by Spacegroup seem to effortlessly float in the natural terrain of the Norwegian forest. Each is designed to be minimally invasive, allowing every cabin to own its footprint and not the land around it. Along with this ecocentric goal, the Movikheien Cabins proposal would not be accessible by car, meaning that residents will have to respect the forest and use hiking paths to reach their getaway destination.

Architects Are Rethinking the Way We Remember History With Monuments

Uruguayan architect Gomez Platero has released a series of conceptual renderings of a mass memorial for the victims of COVID-19. Titled World Memorial to the Pandemic, the design features a circular concrete structure along the oceanside of an unspecified site. The minimal plane is disrupted by a singular void cut out of the center, allowing visitors to look inward at the water below, or outwards towards the horizon.

Architect Proposes a โ€˜Tree-House Schoolโ€™ That Imagines Learning in a Post-COVID World

Architect Valentino Gareri has released a conceptual design for an early education center that integrates precautions for COVID-19. The Tree-House School is intended to serve students at multiple levels, from kindergarten to secondary school, while introducing them to an alternative space of learning. Gareri was inspired to create this project as a study of architecture meeting the needs of a post-COVID world.

Dublin Grocery Store Installs Glass Floor for Shoppers to View Viking History Just Below

Most grocery stores look similarโ€”colorful displays of fruits, a butcher's counter, and checkout lines are normal features. However, shoppers in one new Lidl grocery store in Dublin will have a unique experience as they pick up their weekly supplies. Opened in mid-October, the store was built directly over an 11th-century archeological site.
