Floating Biodome Absorbs Carbon Dioxide, Emits Oxygen

Bloom is a futuristic take on marine farming designed by French firm Sitbon Architectes that was selected as one of five finalists for the first Architizer A+ Awards in the “architecture and weather” category. The spherical structure is designed to be a semi-submersible laboratory garden, cultivating microscopic marine organisms known as phytoplankton that produce oxygen and aid in reducing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Charming Cabin Built for $500 with Repurposed Windows

Located in the mountains of West Virginia, photographer Nick Olson and designer Lilah Horwitz have built their own enchanting retreat made out of discarded windows. The towering home away from home boasts a creative facade made of windows of varying sizes, giving it an artistic flair that is both rustic and modern. More than anything, though, it is a representation of the couple's diligent and penny-pinching efforts.

Modern Pyramid House by Juan Carlos Ramos

We've seen our fair share of unique modern home designs like the box-shaped metallic house or the abstract fortress made of concrete, but Mexican architect Juan Carlos Ramos has taken on a form less-visited for his aptly titled project Pyramid House–a conceptual pyramid-shaped home created and submitted as a proposal for a recent architecture competition. The simple geometric shape creates a clean aesthetic, while remaining extremely eye-catching due to its iconic though rarely applied form.
