Artist Creates Replica of Parthenon from 100,000 Banned Books

Argentinian conceptual artist Marta Minujín has just installed The Parthenon of Books in Kassel, Germany as part of the Documenta 14 art festival. Created from 100,000 banned books, this architectural replica of the Parthenon in Athens is a work in progress, with the public being asked to continue bringing volumes with them when visiting the exhibition.

Artist Creates “Wrecked” Mercedes-Benz from 12,000 Pieces of Reflective Steel

New York-based artist Jordan Griska bases his practice on recreating objects that represent aspects of American culture and history. With his sculpture Wreck, he created a model of a Mercedes-Benz S550 out of nearly 12,000 individual pieces of reflective stainless steel. The reflective sculpture is currently in a private collection outside of Philadelphia, but was on public view for a short period at Pier 9 with Philadelphia Contemporary.
