Quirky Designer Hand-Crochets Rugs in the Shape of Your Favorite Foods

Wisconsin-based artist and educator Carly Dellger of SurfaceWerks makes food you're meant to step on—really, they're food-shaped rugs. Coming from a family with a long history of crocheted rug-making, it's no wonder that Dellger practices the traditional craft as well, but with her own whimsical twist on the craft. Since 2012, Dellger has been selling whimsical crocheted rugs on Etsy. Currently, her inspiration comes from food, U.S. cartography, and nature.

Brazilian Graffiti Artist Paints World’s Largest Street Mural for the Rio Olympics

Days before the Olympics began in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra decided to set his own world record for the largest mural created by a single person. The mural, which he calls Las Etnias (The Ethnicities), reaches a total height of 50 feet and measures over 32,000 square feet. Kobra illustrated five larger-than-life faces from five continents—corresponding to the five rings of the Olympics.

Man Discovers a Lost 500-Year-Old Albrecht Dürer Engraving at a Flea Market

Many flea market shoppers share a similar fantasy—to happen upon a rare treasure that’s hiding in plain sight. A retired archaeologist recently lived this dream when he discovered a 500-year-old engraving by German artist Albrecht Dürer displayed among a collection of knickknacks in Sarrebourg, France. Recognizing the item’s preciousness, he bought it from an oblivious seller for just a few euros.
