Beautifully Crafted Insects Made Out of Recycled Paper

Beautiful paper art can take on many forms, including incredible 3D drawings, stretchable stone-like busts, and elaborate hand-cut illustrations. Recently, Belgium-based ad agency Soon used paper as the medium for yet another unexpected product–playful little insects. Each sculpture was handcrafted out of recycled materials, photographed, and used in a brochure to advertise company IGEPA Benelux's new line of recycled papers.

Glowing Interactive Circular Swings Change Colors with Motion

For the next few months, this interactive Swing Time installation on The Lawn on D in Boston invites residents and visitors to sit back and relax while swinging in one of 20 glowing hammocks. The temporary project was created by Hweler + Yoon Architecture and was developed as a way to “create a new type of city park” where everyone is invited to gather and play or exercise.

The Water Tank Project in NYC Raises Awareness About Global Water Shortages

After witnessing an extreme water shortage in Ethiopia in 2007, artist and filmmaker Mary Jordan was inspired to begin an initiative to draw attention to this global issue. The Water Tank Project is a New York City public art installation in which 100 established artists as well as a select few NYC public high school students are given the opportunity to transform iconic water towers sitting high above the city into works of art.

Complex Wooden Structure Composed of 9,076 Pieces

Part to Whole is a unique structure composed of 9,076 pieces of wood. The project, developed by HG-Architecture | LIVE COMPONENTS, was recently commissioned by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Korea. The large scale installation piece is intended to visually convey the idea that larger forms are generally composed of smaller elements, firmly constructed together to make the whole.
