Husband and wife team Patty and Allen Eckman share a passion for art and design. Since 1988, the duo have perfected the process of cast paper sculpture, in which they create intricate three-dimensional casts. Based in South Dakota, Patty and Allen say they find inspiration for their art in the landscape, the wildlife, and the history of their surroundings.

Incredible Shadow Drawings Appear Through Mangled Wires

New York-based artist Larry Kagan creates abstract wire sculptures that transform into recognizable figures when exposed to light from a precise angle. Similar to the likes of Diet Wiegman, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Kagan's sculptures cast figurative shadows that draw the eye in amazement. Rather than focusing on the constructed steel structure, one's gaze is turned to the shadow drawings on the adjacent wall.

The artist, who lives and works in Venice, California, creates what he calls a sense of “Western Zen” with his gravity-defying rock sculptures. His Cantamar and Granite series feature a number of collected stones arranged in an impossible balancing act, leaving one to reflect on its unnatural configuration and one's own spirituality.
