Thickly Layered Flower Paintings Literally Pop Off Artist’s Canvas

Artist Jane Ironside (of IronsideImpastos) paints flowers that literally pop off the page. Utilizing a distinct impasto style involving layers that impressively resemble flower petals, the creative is able to depict a wide range of blossoms. Interview: Erin Hanson Pioneers the Energetic Style of Open-Impressionism

Artist Erin Hanson began to study oil painting when she was only eight years old. By the age of ten, she had completed her first paid commission. Her portfolio of work only grew from there, and after graduating from UC Berkeley, the creative established open-impressionism–her own distinct style of painting. Before long, other artists started emulating Hanson's technique and she was credited as the inventor of this contemporary style.

Blind Artist Relies on Touch and Texture to Create Stunningly Vivid Paintings

While art has always been a major part of John Bramblitt's life, it wasn't until he completely lost his sight that he tried to paint for the first time. From the age of 11, Bramblitt's vision was gradually stolen from him by epilepsy. By the time he was 30, seizures had rendered him completely blind, sending him into what he calls “the deepest, darkest hole” of depression.

Superheroes Reimagined as 16th Century Paintings
