Futuristic Lotus-Shaped City in the Sky

City in the Sky is an architectural design concept for, as its title suggests, a city in the sky. According to Bulgaria-born, London-based architect Tsvetan Toshkov, the project is “about an imaginary tranquil oasis above the mega developed and polluted city where one can escape from the everyday noise, stress and dirt.” The aerial escapes are meant to soar high above our tallest skyscrapers.

Intricate Portrait Stencils Form Lettered Messages

I absolutely love these stenciled artworks by Orticanoodles, the pieces are fantastic! Orticanoodles is a pseudonym for two Italian artists, Wally and Alita. The very active and close artist pair started with handmade posters, moved into street art, and quickly became part of major urban guerrilla campaigns. The team's most recent work, these Stencil on Stencil pieces, are a collection of portraits of famous leaders, TV personalities, celebrities, and artists, combined with intricate stencil techniques.

Maximo Riera's Elephant Chair is the latest addition to the Spanish designer's Animal Chair Collection, which we've seen grow over the last couple of years. More like a piece of art than a furniture fashion statement, the mighty elephant throne is carved from compressed foam with an internal steel frame and is enveloped in fine leather.

Restructuring Cardboard Boxes into Life-Size Objects

Placing your empty cardboard boxes in the recycling bin is one way of effectively dealing with the common material, but artist Chris Gilmour opts to sculpturally mimic objects with them instead. The English sculptor reworks average cardboard boxes to construct incredibly detailed replicas of varied objects ranging in size from a teacup to a grand piano. It's hard to believe that these are real objects disguised in a cardboard design.
