Descendants of the U.S. Founding Fathers Recreate Iconic Painting 241 Years Later

If you’ve ever taken a course on American history, you're probably familiar with artist John Trumbull's iconic painting, Declaration of Independence. The sprawling piece depicts a historic moment as Thomas Jefferson presents the first draft of the document to Congress. The 56 Founding Fathers would later sign the proclamation in 1776, and its cultural significance has only grown since then.

Ai Weiwei Draws Attention to the Refugee Crisis with Powerful New Installation

With his new exhibition Law of the Journey, Ai Weiwei continues to explore the enormity of the refugee humanitarian crisis. A refugee himself, Ai Weiwei has dedicated the last two years of his career to creating politically charged artwork that speaks to the issue. “There’s no refugee crisis, but only human crisis… In dealing with refugees we’ve lost our very basic values,” states the Chinese artist, one of the most powerful figures in contemporary art.

Eye-Opening Graphic Reveals Which Countries Have the Best Work-Life Balance

We know that life shouldn't be all work and no play, but just how much do we abide by that? This eye-opening infographic, by Vicky Leta for Mashable, is based on data collected from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s Better Life Index. It looks at a couple of things: how many hours (on average) a person spends working a year, and how satisfied they are with the time committed to their profession.
