Winner of the โ€˜Itโ€™s Amazing Out Thereโ€™ Photo Contest Reveal the Beauty of Weather

There were more than 60,000 submissions from photographers around the world that show the beauty of weather and nature for The Weather Channelโ€˜s third annual It's Amazing Out There photography contest. Crushing storms, birds in flight, and spectacular sunrises highlight the great environment we live in.  But it was Long Island photographer Greg Gulbransen who captured the grand prize of $15,000 for his eerily powerful image, Fire on Ice.

Dreamy Photos of New York Architecture Capture the โ€œSecret Lives of Buildingsโ€

Rising up as spectral monsters, the New York City buildings captured by photographer Marc Yankus loom as giants in the urban landscape. The series of dreamlike images give new perspective to the architecture, and by pulling back to show his subjects in their naked context Yankus forces the viewer to observe their raw impact. The solitude that inhabits the photographs are in stark contrast to the normally buzzing city streets.

Body diversity is something rarely seen in fashion spreads and advertising, but the All Woman Project celebrates the beauty of variety by making it the centerpiece of all they do. The social endeavor showcases ladies in of different shapes, sizes, and skin colors, most notably in one striking panoramic photograph. In it, models stand with their backs facing the camera as they don vibrant, body-hugging attire that flaunts their glorious curves.

Once-In-A-Lifetime Photo Captures a Caiman Wearing a Crown of Butterflies in the Amazon

As photographer Mark Cowan traveled down the Amazon, studying reptile and amphibian diversity with the Herpetology Division at the University of Michigan, he captured a phenomenal photo that is as visually stunning as it is educational. The image showcases a lounging caiman with a vibrant crown of butterflies. Biologically, the winged creatures need salt to survive, and the water that collects on the caiman's skin is a key provider of those minerals.
