Oymyakon, Russia is the coldest place on earth where humans actually live. The small, rural town has brutal winters where temperatures can dip to minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The area is six time zones away from Moscow.

Rare Childhood Portraits of Frida Khalo Captured by Her Father

Artist Frida Kahlo is probably best known for her painted self portraits, but she also had a well-documented life on camera. There are hundreds of photographs taken of her as an adult with husband Diego Rivera, but what's less common are images from her childhood. Her father, Guillermo Kahlo, often captured her as a young girl on film. These rare and beautiful images give us a glimpse into what Kahlo's early life was like.

Thousands of Colorful Lanterns Celebrate Buddha’s Birthday

Every May, to celebrate Buddha's birthday, Samgwangsa Temple in Busan turns into a must-visit destination. Thousands of colored lanterns are strung up as CNN named Samgwangsa Temple one of the 50 most beautiful places to visit in Korea specifically because of the festival. The lanterns carry a symbolic meaning and many of them are in the shape of lotus flowers, a Buddhism motif.
