Suspended Dragon Made of 40,000 Golden Buttons

Artist Robin Protz created an incredible suspended sculpture of a dragon made up of 40,000 golden buttons hanging from 4,000 fluorocarbon lines. The massive 18'x12'x8′ piece was an early favorite at ArtPrize, the world's largest art competition going on now in Grand Rapids, Michigan, making the top 25 list and quickly becoming a part of the “Did you see it?” conversation.

1550 Chairs Stacked Between Buildings

Doris Salcedo created an installation titled “1550 Chairs Stacked Between Two City Buildings” at Istanbul Biennial. In 2002, Salcedo placed 280 chairs at the Palace of Justice in Bogot “to pay homage to those killed here in a failed guerrilla coup seventeen years earlier.” In 2003, she filled the Istanbul Biennial space between two buildings with 1,550 chairs “evoking the masses of faceless migrants who underpin our globalised economy.

Double Dragon-Inspired Wood Sculpture

If you're a fan of retro video games and you love art, you're going to get a kick out of this new sculpture by Aled Lewis. Called Double Discount, it pays tribute to the Game Boy title, Double Dragon II, and was made for the Old School Video Game Show coming on September 16 to Gallery 1988 in Venice, California.

Giant House of Cards Sculpture

Auckland-based designer Fletcher Vaughan believes that the second half of the 20th century was a wild party, full of gas-guzzling cars, cheap energy, and vast personal wealth from a booming economy. Fast forward to today and we are waking up to a nasty hangover, facing the consequences of last night's excess. To represent the the precarious balancing act we are performing with our planet, he created this giant house of cards installation titled Collapse.
