Ceramic Stories – Kim Simonsson

“Guardian Angel” Kim Simonsoon is a young Finnish sculptor who lives in Helsinki. He makes striking ceramic sculptures of cute, big-eyed young girls and deer, derived from Japanese manga comics. His work questions the role of the child and nature in the modern world. “Authority in its' many forms fascinates me and in my works I want to reverse the common beliefs by making the weak powerful.” (Kim Simonsson)

A Super-Yacht to Die For – The Ocean Emerald

Let the drooling begin! The Ocean Emerald is a 135 foot yacht designed by Foster + Partners for super-yacht company, YachtPlus. With a strong emphasis on space and light, the luxury boat has five suites that can accommodate up to 12 guests, and a highly trained crew of seven. All furnishings and fittings are provided by the Italian manufacturer Cassina, while kitchen and galley equipment is from Schiffini.

Modern Architecture – ION Orchard: Singapore (4 pics)

Designed by London-based architecture firm Benoy, ION Orchard will be Singapore's most premium shopping strip when completed at the end of 2008. Media architecture will wrap around its entire facade to showcase the mall's retail brands, as well as serve as a fluid canvas for multimedia art and live telecasts of events held within the complex, such as runway shows and themed events.

Modern Architecture – Blossoming Dubai (5 pics)

Designed to resemble a blossoming flower, Greek architecture firm Petra Architects recently submitted “Blossoming Dubai” to the Zaabeel Park Tall Emblem Structure Competition. The tower is equipped with two elevators that run on spiral rails which turn 135 degrees and ascend 450 feet (138 meters). The lifts ascend from the lower ground floor (where the visitors enter) to the cafeteria level and the viewing platform above.
