Hanging Tree Installation (3 pics + video)

This installation, by Japanese artist Shinji Turner-Yamamoto, is incredibly powerful. A hanging tree, with its roots sprawled out, is seen hanging in mid-air inside an abandoned church in Cincinnati. Turner-Yamamoto chose the decrepit church because he liked the marks of decay carved into the architecture by time and nature. “Hanging Garden” is part of Turner-Yamamoto's larger Global Tree Project, which encourages community participation in the creation of each sculpture.

Unlocking Original Illustrations from Charlotte’s Web (12 total)

Though most of us have read the classic children's book Charlotte's Web, none of us have seen the original illustrations…until now. The book's legendary illustrator Garth Williams kept most of his book illustrations for his own, personal collection. Even after his death, the family carefully preserved these works by keeping them in a bank vault. Now the Williams estate is making the art available to collectors for the first time.

Clever Movie Posters by Viktor Hertz (4 total)

As a huge fan of talented illustrators like Noma Bar or Olly Moss, I was happy to come across the work of Viktor Hertz. Not only does he use negative space with his Coffee and Cigarettes illustration, his minimalist style makes him one to watch. My favorite? Check out his mash-up of the film ‘A.I' by Steven Spielberg and the software program Adobe Illustrator (below) for a good laugh.
