Polish artist Justyna Kopania utilizes her skilled hand at painting to produce stunning portraits of ships at sea. Her Marine paintings series features a beautifully textured collection of oil paintings that make excellent use of color and form. In an age where artists are constantly working with unconventional, found objects to construct their new age “paintings” it can be a refreshing break to see the works of a painter like Kopania who brilliantly manipulates a traditional medium.
Kopania’s paintings exhibit an astute understanding and mastery of oil paints. She carefully blends colors and allows the audience to view every brushstroke in each of her works. Her artistic renditions offer an emotional connection in addition to a visual representation of a perceived environment.
The artist says, “My art reflects the world I perceive with all my senses; people I meet and love; nature I admire, and all the things that affect the way I am… In painting I try to show the ‘world’, which could be seen by looking at reality that surrounds us, from another perspective, unusual, remote, sometimes through the eyes of the child, sometimes music, composer, or someone who looks lichen on the sea, the moon , the sky and the stars …, the river … looks out the window and looks out into the street.”
