9,000 Human Sand Silhouettes Serve as a Reminder of D-Day

Just a few days ago, British artists Andy Moss and Jamie Wardley, of Sand In Your Eye, produced this incredibly powerful visual display at the D-Day landing beach of Arromanche in France. The two developed this concept, entitled The Fallen, in honor of International Peace Day (September 21) and as a way to remember what happens in the absence of that peace.

Interactive Installation Invites Visitors to Manipulate Clouds

Cloud Pink is an interactive installation by Seoul-based creative Everyware (formed by Hyunwoo Bang and Yunsil Heo) that allows the public to live out their childhood dreams of touching and manipulating clouds. The immersive piece features a fabric screen that invites visitors to poke and prod the material from below, thereby causing a visual reaction in the projected simulation of wafting pink clouds.

People with Lana Del Rey Lips is a single-topic blog by Brussels-based art director Sven Grothe and interactive designer Nicolas Hicorne that hilariously Photoshops the singer's iconic, plump lips over other celebrities. The blog's title does not disappoint as it is exactly what you'd imagine, turning A-list heartthrobs like Ryan Gosling and George Clooney into slightly less desirable men with giant, padded mouths (or “permanent duckface”).

Giant Paint Splash Sculpture by Tomas Misura

With all the serious, high-brow art out there, isn't it refreshing to see something like this? Artist Tomas Misura created this fun work called Splash for Bondi Beach's Sculpture by the Sea exhibition in 2010. Misura won the $3,000 kids choice prize for the sculpture of a giant stainless steel paint tube squirting red paint towards the beach.
