Flattened Sets of Silver Objects Suspended in Mid-Air

London-based sculptor and installation artist Cornelia Parker has an affinity for smashing things. According to her bio, the artist “is fascinated with processes in the world that mimic cartoon ‘deaths'–steamrollering, shooting full of holes, falling from cliffs and explosions.” So it makes perfect sense that in Thirty Pieces of Silver, the artist had 1,116 silver objects flattened with a steamroller so that she could turn them into this thought-provoking, suspended installation.

Teen Photographer Whisks Us Away Into a Surreal Dream

Georgia-based photographer Taylor Marie McCormick, aka lalasiy, captures and manipulates images to reflect a surreal world one would find themselves entering just as they're falling asleep. Equipped with her Nikon D800, the 19-year-old manages to creatively visualize an alternate universe where jellyfish rain down from the skies and tiny mermaids frolic in mason jars filled with water.

Dutch photographer Joel Tjintjelaar transforms urban architecture into breathtaking abstract works of art. Rather than capturing a traditional image of the Empire State Building, revealing its extraordinary height, Tjintjelaar takes creative liberties to mask the imposing extent of its towering stature and opts to play with the light bouncing off the building's textured facade. The edifice is now defunct of its vertical triumphs and instead a radiating horizontal extension of lines and boxes.

Knife Wielding Artist Carves Meticulous Leather "Paintings"

Artist Mark Evans produces remarkably realistic murals of varying subjects by carving into enormous pieces of leather. The Welsh artist's large-scale “paintings” are each meticulously hand-etched with his collection of knives, which happens to include anything from a pocket knife given to him by his grandfather at the age of 7 to an Egyptian Neolithic flint knife (approximated to be from around 5000 BC).
