Disney’s Creative Hot Air Balloon Recreates Up House

Leave it to Disney to pull off one of the greatest marketing stunts of all time. Back in 2009, to promote the European release of Up, Disney created a whimsical hot air balloon with an inflatable house that resembled the one straight from the movie. The Up balloon was made in England, took six months to build and consisted of 540 individually sewn balloons, each with 13 panels, attached to a digitally printed envelope.

Gorgeous New Mural in Ibiza, Spain

Irish urban artist Fin DAC has just completed this beautiful stencil work in Ibiza, Spain for the Urban In Ibiza festival. Called Alabaster at Nagai, it shows a gorgeous woman with a colorful parrot on her shoulder. (Also, notice the tiny green leaves or feathers surrounding them.) The artist, whose work we've featured a number of times on My Modern Met (see here and here) is known for creating these types of stunning murals.

Photorealistic Pencil Portraits of Animals

I came across these animal drawings by Sydney-based artist Jaimee Paul and was amazed by just how realistic they looked. (The fur! The feathers!) Growing up on a farm in New Zealand with eight dogs, four cats, two horses and many lambs, she's used to being surrounded by animals. It's no wonder then, that now she focuses on them. “They have such personality, they're so complex and every one is so different.

Photographer Uses Own Body to Create Surreal Lanscapes

Many photographers serve as their own models, turning themselves into the subjects of their shots. Finnish photographer Arno Rafael Minkkinen, however, chooses to use his body as a raw element that accentuates the untouched beauty found in nature and, at times, camouflages into the scenery. The true subject in the photographer's work is the landscape. Minkkinen uses his nude form to play with his surroundings in visually stimulating ways.
