Injecting Paint in Bubble Wrap to Create Pixelated Portraits

In all our years of running My Modern Met, we've seen our share of amazing pixelated portraits. Humans (and even animals) have been made out of everything from crayons and computer keys to lipsticks and cake sprinkles. Artist Bradley Hart uses a different approach. His material of choice is one we don't often come across unless we open up a box or unwrap a delicate present. Bradley Hart works with bubble wrap.

Mesmerizing Digital Collages of People Climbing Stairs

Korean artist Jiyen Lee has created a series of hypnotizing digital collages that present people going up and down stairs, as seen from a bird's eye view. Each puzzling assemblage features an unidentifiable traffic of pedestrians on an endless journey. It also remains unclear whether they are actually ascending or descending the steps in front of them, as Lee has taken the artistic liberty of reconfiguring images in unimaginable compositions. Sculptor Keith Jennings carves wise faces into trees, revealing each wooden tower's inner spirit. Jennings first embarked on his Tree Spirits project back in 1982 when he decided to creatively manipulate a tree in his backyard with a few hand tools. Starting out as a way to kill time on a budget, the artist wound up honing his craft.

More Up Close and Personal Animal Portraits

Danish photographer Morten Koldby doesn't take typical animal portraits. His ongoing series explores how animals' facial expressions often resemble those of humans. He's learned that their expressions run the gamut – while some animals look highly nervous, others seem surprisingly arrogant. We first came across his series almost two years ago. His crisp portraits of everything from a giraffe to a polar bear were like nothing we had ever seen.
