Pressed Against the Glass on Japan’s Crowded Subways

Traveling on an extremely crowded subway is one of my least favorite things ever. So, when I saw this photo series by German-born artist Michael Wolf, I was both intrigued and horrified. In the series, entitled Tokyo Compression, the Hong Kong-based photographer spent time studying the culture of Tokyo, focusing specifically on the individuals who spend their daily commute packed onto the city subway trains.

Spectacular Wall Installations Made of X-Rays and MRI Film

Artist Julia Barello's swirling wall installation titled Swoop features a swarm of birds cut out of MRI film. The circling silhouettes create a galactic spiral against the white wall, reversing the colors naturally depicting outer space. There's something very organic and universal about the piece that is clearly inspired by nature.

Head on over to The Hole in New York right now (until May 26) and you'll be able to experience an amazingly colorful exhibit by Holton Rower. The first New York solo exhibition for the artist, “Pour Paintings” is just that, they're paintings created by carefully pouring paint over plywood. The result is incredible color combinations that are stunningly psychedelic.

Amazing Cement Dragon Bursts Through Wall

For three months, artist Yang Yongliang worked with a team to create an incredible cement dragon sculpture that looks as if it's bursting out of a wall. Throughout history, the Chinese dragon has been a symbol of peace, prosperity and power. “It has always been the emblem of the Chinese nation and state, as well,” Yongliang told us. “My original intention was to expose its status in an abnormal way.
